North Cestrian School

where individuals thrive

Old Cestrians

The Inaugural General Meeting of the Association was held on 3rd February 1956, with Peter Morton, at that time a member of the Teaching Staff in the Chair.

The original Committee of the Association was as follows:-

President W. Hamblin
Chairman Phil Burdge
Secretary John Gresty
Treasurer Donald Keeling
Committee John Wildgoose
  Geoffrey Hughes
  David Pendlebury
  Michael Whittaker

The objects of the Association have always been to keep in touch with the School, to organise an Annual Reunion and to provide sporting and social activities as they seem to be required from time to time.

Sport featured prominently for many years, with cricket and tennis being arranged on an ad hoc basis, whereas the Football Club entered teams in the Lancashire Amateur League for many years with a fair amount of success. Their outstanding achievement was winning the Altrincham and District Senior Cup in 1983.

Unfortunately all of these sports seem now to have lost their appeal for Old Cestrians, and in recent years the annual meeting of the Golf Society has been our only sporting activity.
