The Rise of Girls’ Football at North Cestrian School

Girls’ football is thriving at North Cestrian School, and this year marks an exciting new chapter in our journey. This September, we launched competitive girls’ football for Years 7, 8 and 9, entering teams into the Trafford League for the very first time. The enthusiasm, determination and team spirit shown by our players has been nothing short of inspiring.

Our girls now proudly play in a brand‑new, brilliantly pink kit generously sponsored by Octopus Energy. The team absolutely love it — not only for its vibrant style, but for what it represents: belief, visibility and support for girls’ sport.

National Winners — and a Trip of a Lifetime to The Emirates Stadium 

Our youngest players also made headlines of their own when they created a team chant and entered it into a national competition run by Octopus Energy — and they won! The prize was an unforgettable, fully funded trip to the iconic Emirates Stadium, home of both Arsenal Women and Arsenal Men.

The experience included:

• A private stadium tour, exploring areas usually reserved for elite athletes
• A V.I.P coach for the journey
• Plenty of healthy snacks and a delicious Pret lunch, all covered by Octopus Energy

The girls were buzzing with excitement throughout the day, and the memories they made — walking players’ tunnels, sitting in the dugout, and seeing the pitch up close — will stay with them forever.
