Learning Support

The Special Educational Needs Team comprises of the SENCo, a Lead Teaching Assistant and a team of Learning Support Assistants. The team is based in the Hamblin (a dedicated provision room) and provides a range of support for pupils identified as having SEN.

The support for our SEN pupils is first and foremost provided through high quality teaching and differentiated activities within the classroom environment. In addition to this the team of teaching assistants are deployed according to need within the classroom to support access to learning and progress.

The Hamblin is available for pupils at breaks and lunchtimes and is a staffed safe place for vulnerable students.

The Cestrian Way underpins the whole ethos of the school with high expectations of behaviour and academic achievement; this is the same for all pupils including those with SEN. There is a ‘no excuses’ culture and all pupils are challenged and encouraged to thrive and lead rich and fulfilling lives from the moment they join the school in Year 7.
